Opening Procedures

Computers/Printers

Internet (Gates) Computers Turn on computers from the main screen and the tower.

  1. Two beside circ desk
  2. Four in adult wing
  3. One children’s computer in childrens area


PAC (catalog) Located beside Child’s computer in Children’s Section .

  1. Turn on by pushing power button located on left hand side of the computer monitor


Circulation Computers

  1. Turn on both computers on the front on the desktop. Once the computers have come on, select CLERK. ENTER THE password "xxxxx."
  2. Turn on receipt printer and check receipt paper.
  3. Turn on laser printer under the desk with switch located on the left side of printer. Refill with laser paper kept beside printer.
  4. The Control panel for the public internet terminals is located on circ computers
  5. Minimize (-) to put at the bottom of screen.


Office Computer

  1. Turn on by pressing the on/off switch on the CPU.
  2. Click clerk then enter password when blue screen pops up.
  3. Turn on the color printer by pressing the button on the right.

Copier/Fax

  1. Turn on copier; switch is on the back left hand side.
  2. Make sure the paper trays have plenty of paper; the paper will be located under the copier.

The fax machine is a Canon. The cost of sending is $2.00 per page and to receive a fax the cost is $1.00 per page. To send a fax outside the U.S., the cost will be $6.00 per page.

To send a fax, place paper face down. Dial the desired number then PRESS THE GREEN BUTTON. If you are sending a fax to a library location, use the speed dial buttons. If the fax machine runs out of toner, let the manager know ASAP. The fax log is kept beside the fax machine and each time you send a fax, make sure you write all information on this log.

Making A Copy

  1. Raise the white lid toward the ceiling.
  2. Place the edge of the item to be copied with the print side down. The top of your page will be directed towards the bulletin board.
  3. Close the copier lid.
  4. After checking to make certain that the desired number of copies is set and checking the copy size, you are ready to PRESS THE GREEN BUTTON. Copies will come out in the tray to the left of the machine.
  5. If multiple copies are desired, push the number needed on the number pad. Then PRESS THE GREEN BUTTON. Copies are .10 cents each, which are paid in the machine.
  6. PAPER is kept under the copier.
  7. Record meter reading every morning. The reading is found on the right side of the machine in the side compartment. Record the number on the meter reading paper, which is kept in the cabinet under the copier. If there are any problems with the copier, see the manager. Write down the problems and any details on the desk calendar.
  8. When entering the copier money into the circulation computers, Type in “money, money south webster”. At the “patron name lookup,” screen click on OK.

Book Drop

  • The book drop is located outside on the sidewalk near the entrance door.
  • It is to be emptied at opening and one hour before closing.
  • The bookdrop opens by code instead of a key
  • The code is: press the X and X button at the same time then press the X, turn the lock clockwise then turn the handle to close the bookdrop shut the door turn the handle and turn the lock counter clockwise.

Bank Procedures

  • Take to Citizens Bank across from post office.
  • Make the bank deposit in the morning (if possible) around 9:00 a.m. Bank hours vary, so check bank scheduled hours on circulation desk. No deposit is taken to the bank on Wednesday.

Mail

  • The mail is located at the Post Office across from the bank, the box # is 679 and the key is in the key box in the office.
  • We need to check this when we take the deposit to the bank.

  2. Press the messages button and follow the instructions.
