Opening Procedures

Mobile Services Office Computers

  1. Turn on computers from the main screen and the central processing unit (cpu).
  2. Username for all Mobile Services Office Computers is ‘county’
  3. Password for computer 12080 (found on front of cpu) at the Homebound desk is ‘xxxxx’
  4. Password for computer 12078 (found on front of cpu) at the Homebound desk is ‘xxxxx’
  5. Password for computer at Bookmobile’s work station is ‘xxxxx’

Bookmobile Laptop Computers

  1. Make sure laptops are plugged into the power supply cord and that the scanner is plugged into the laptops.
  2. Turn on laptops by pressing the gray button above the keyboard of the computer.

Copier Procedures

  1. Turn on copier only when using the machine by pressing the On/Off button.
  2. Place original face down on screen
  3. Make sure that there is paper in copier. Tray 1 is for letter (8 ½ X 11) paper and Tray 2 is for legal (8 ½ X 14) paper. If copying something other than these paper sizes, remove legal paper, place correct size paper in tray and change paper size indicator by turning the dial to the desired size of paper. When finished return machine to same settings as before you started.
  4. Turn copier off when finished by pressing the On/Off button again.
  5. If there are any problems with the copier, see the manager or call Canon at 1-800-826-9758. Tell them the problem and the copier Serial Number MPG43033 and the copier is an ‘image RUNNER 2200’. Write down the details on manager’s desk calendar.

Daily Procedures List

  1. The daily duty list is a checklist or reminder of specific jobs that need completed each day. These are kept on the clipboards next to the Homebound computer #12080, in black tray by fax machine, on Bill’s desk, and in tray on Annie’s desk.
  2. A new form is used daily, with the previous day’s form being placed on the manager’s desk.
  3. When tasks are completed, initial and proceed to the next task. If unable to complete a task, please make a notation in COMMENTS section.

Voice Mail

  1. To check voice mail:
  2. Press ‘Feature’ button on phone
  3. Enter numbers ‘9-8-1’
  4. Enter password ‘x-x-x-x’
  5. Press OK by pressing the gray button under screen
  6. Press PLAY by pressing the gray button under screen

Fax

  1. The fax machine is a ‘hp officejet 6110xi’.
  2. To send a fax, place paper face up on top tray of fax machine.
  3. To place an outside phone call, press the 7 key, and then dial the number. If you are sending a fax to another library location, use the speed dial buttons according to their labels. If the fax machine runs out of toner, let the manager know ASAP.
  4. The fax log is kept in the smoke colored tray next to the fax machine. Make sure you write all information on this log, also each long distance phone call that is made, you need to log the information here.

Mail

  1. Take mail down to the mail room
  2. Place postage on mail from the stamp machine
  3. Press enter key on stamp machine and see what the current meter rate is

If your piece of mail is a regular envelope and not excessively full, it should go for $.37. Just feed the piece of mail through the machine. If you are unsure, follow these steps:

  • place mail on scale
  • choose ‘1st Class Single Piece’ (rate will appear in the upper right hand corner
  • press ‘Meter Set’ (this will change the meter rate on stamp machine)
  • feed the piece of mail through the machine

If you are mailing a package, follow the instructions at the stamp machine and place mail in mail box located by lockers.

Rounds

  1. Place items in crates by door to Mobile Services Office
  2. Some time around 4-4:30 each day, take Main’s rounds to YS to be checked in and sorted.

Closing

Mobile Services Office Computers

  1. Click on START button at the bottom left hand side of screen. Choose SHUT DOWN option and press OK.
  2. Wait until box pops up saying that it is okay to turn computer off.
  3. Turn off monitor
  4. Turn off computer

Bookmobile Laptop Computers

  1. Click on START button at the bottom left hand side of screen. Choose SHUT DOWN option and press OK.
  2. Wait until screen goes blank and the computer has shut off.
  3. Close lid to computer when it shuts down.
