Opening

Alarm

A. Before walking into the library of a morning, you have to disengage the alarm, by putting in your four-digit code, only given to you. If the alarm would happen to go off, you will receive a phone call from Tri-State Security and they will ask for your PASSWORD. You will need to ask the manager for that PASSWORD.


Internet (Gates) Computers - Turn on computers from the main screen and the tower. Once the screen comes on. The Internet access computers will use the USERNAME: “all” and the child’s computer will use the USERNAME: “child.” After typing in the USERNAME for each computer, then hit ENTER and the RED screen should come on, showing the computers are working the way they should be.


PAC (catalog) - Whenever the screen with “Ctrl-Alt-Delete” comes on, type in the password “xxxxx” then press “Ctrl-Alt-Delete” at the same time and then type the USERNAME: “cat” and the PASSWORD: “xxxxx”


Copier - Turn on copier; switch is on the back left hand side. - Make sure the paper trays have plenty of paper; the paper will be located under the copier. - Take the meter count on the machine (daily) and record it on the papers under the copier. The meter count is taken from the counter in access panel on the right hand side of copier.

Circulation Computers - Turn on both computers on the front of the desktop. Once the computers have come on, login by selecting the WHCLERK user and entering the PASSWORD: “xxxxx” . Once computers load, log on circulation by typing in your USERNAME and PASSWORD, which is given only to you. - Turn on receipt printer and check receipt paper. - Turn on laser printer under the desk with switch located on the right side of printer. Refill with laser paper kept beside printer or in the back of library with REF. Material.

The Commander for the public Internet terminals is located on circ. #2 - To unlock these, click on start - Go to Programs>Special Apps>Commander - Click button to disable the commander - Minimize (-) to put at the bottom of screen or wherever is best for you to work.





Office Computer - Turn on by pressing the Master button underneath the terminal. This should bring everything up. If not press the on/off switch on the CPU. - Enter USERNAME: “whbranch” and PASSWORD: “xxxxx.” - Turn on the color printer by pressing the right button. - When adding paper, use only laser paper. Bank The bank deposit will be taken daily to Fifth Third Bank on Ohio River Road, located before you get to Lowe’s.


Copier Money

- The copier money will be in the blue moneybag, this money is counted and entered into the MONEY MONEY account on the circ. computer. Always hit the individual/pay after you put in the amount so it can be cleared off for another branch or the next day. MONEY MONEY: - On the F2 screen, enter MONEY as the patron - Choose charges, click on new charge - Enter: copier, code CP, and copier money $ amount - ENTER - Trash receipt.





Daily Duty List - The daily duty list is a checklist or reminder of specific jobs that need completed in this order each day. This is kept on the clipboard under the window. - A new form is used daily, with the previous day’s form being placed underneath on the clipboard. - When tasks are completed, initial and proceed to next task. If unable to complete a task, please make a notation in COMMENTS section. - All other forms needed for the day are located in the “rolling file” located under the window beside the fax machine. - Keep track of all Reference questions and internet patrons throughout the day. This is very important for statistical purposes.


Patron Internet Sign-Up Form - The sign-up sheets along with Internet stickers are on the clipboard under the desk with the FAX machine on it. - Each patron using internet terminals has to show ID or library card before signing on to get onto the internet terminals, anyone under the age of 18, may not get on the internet computers without a computer sticker on their card.


Voice Mail

-To check voice mail, press 7 then 354-2160, wait for instructions. - Instructions are also posted on phone by circ. desk. - Make sure that when you are the one checking the messages, that you write down all the information that is given to you and please call the patron or co-worker back.


Book Drop

- The book drop is located outside on the sidewalk near the entrance door. - It is to be emptied at opening and one hour before closing. - The key to the book drop is located in the drawer, where the money is kept. Unlock book drop, retrieve all items and put on counter to be checked in. Double check, the book drop seems to eat books.

FAX

The fax machine is a Xerox Pro 535. The cost of sending is $2.00 per page and to receive a fax the cost is $1.00 per page. To send a fax outside the U.S., the cost will be $6.00 per page.

To send a fax, place paper face down. Dial the desired number then PRESS THE GREEN BUTTON. If you are sending a fax to a library location, use the speed dial buttons. (Workroom-01, Reference-02, Youth Services-03, County-04, Lucasville-05, New Boston-06, South Webster-07, Wheelersburg-08.) **The fax machine will only fax one sheet of paper at a time. If the fax machine runs out of toner, let the manager know ASAP. We do not have extra toner for the fax. The fax log is kept under the fax machine and each time you send a fax, make sure you write all information on this log, also each long distance phone call that is made, you need to log information.


MAIL

1. The mail is located on Green Street, turn down Irving street make a left at the STOP sign and the cluster box will be on your left, the # is 11 and the key is in the key box in the office. 2. We need to check this once in the afternoon.

Closing Book Drop - The book drop key is kept in the drawer where the money is kept. - Books should be taken from Book Drop one hour prior to closing. - Unlock Book Drop and remove books, remember to check for books that may have fallen behind cart. - Re-lock drop box and return key to drawer.


PAC - Make sure screen is on the HOME page. - Press “Ctrl-Alt-Delete” and choose shutdown. - When window prompts “OK to shut down” proceed to shut down the two Internet computers before turning them off.


Internet Computers - Go up to the RED bar in the top left side of the screen and right click with your mouse once. When the password information comes up type “xxxxx” (be sure to use zero’s instead of O’s). The window will than return to the beginning and you can than shut it down. Turn off monitor and CPU.


Circulation Computers - Close out all windows. - Go to START button and go to SHUTDOWN. - The computers will automatically turn themselves off. Office Computer - Close all windows - Go to SHUTDOWN - To turn off, press the master button underneath the monitor. This should turn everything off except the printer.


Copier - Turn copier off at night with switch located on the left side towards the back. - Empty the copier by using the black-coated key kept in the drawer where money is. Insert key into the silver keyhole on the front of the copier. Turn key to the left until handle pops out. Remove key and return to drawer. Turn the handle counter clockwise until the door opens. Empty the coins by pulling out the gray coin box. Locate the black dollar bill container above the coin box and pull the top towards you. - Remove dollar bills from compartment and empty change from coin box into the blue moneybag that is kept in the money drawer. - Set coin box on top of copier and leave vending unit open overnight.


Lights and Heating/Air Conditioning - At closing, make sure all patrons are out of the building. - Turn off lights in office and in library (switches are by the doors). - Make sure thermostat is set at 68 for heating and 72 for air conditioning. (Thermostat is located on left wall by door to restrooms)



Doors - Check and make sure doors to restrooms, office, and side door by stacks are securely closed. - To lock front door – Insert small hex-wrench (in money drawer) into hole on door panic bar and turn left. Panic bar will release. Remove key and replace key back in money drawer. - Clock Out - Set alarm with your code and go out the door. - After exiting the building, push door closed securely, pull handle on door to make sure door is closed and locked.
