Reporting Off
The single activity essential to the performance of your job is your attendance. When you are not at work, you are not doing your job. The library relies on you to be at work during the hours you are scheduled to work. Your absence, even when absolutely necessary, weakens our levels of production, lessens our effectiveness as an organization, and leaves us less able to do just what we are here to do: provide our patrons with the highest level of service.
Although full day absences obviously affect the library more, your failure to be at work on time and for the full time you are scheduled to work also affects the library. Late arrivals, long lunches and early departures among our employees add up quickly and often result in overall greater harm than do full-day absences. Therefore, we consider late arrivals and early departures - at any point during your shift - to be absences as serious as full-day absences and we treat them accordingly.
If, for any reason, you will not be reporting to work as scheduled, you must call
354-5688 EXT. 10516
before 8:00 am that morning.
This number will connect you to a recording that will ask you to leave your name and your schedule for the day. Please leave a clear message so that arrangements can be made to cover your absence.
EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 5, 2013
In addition to the above, you must contact your supervisor and advise her or him that you will not be reporting to work as scheduled. Supervisors should let their staff know how they would like to be notified (phone, text, email).
